Drug/Alcohol Testing in Vermont
There are certain set circumstances and periods of time when drug/alcohol testing might be required in Vermont. The situation will largely depend on certain circumstances. They include:
a) Pre-employment Tests
Some employers make it mandatory to pass a drug or alcohol test before someone can be brought into the organization. In this station, everyone who applies for a job at the organization will have to go through drug testing before they are employed.
b) Annual Physical Tests
Some employers also test their staff members for drugs and alcohol abuse as part of their annual examination. They are legally required to inform the employees that the physical exam will also include drug testing because failure to do so would be violating their constitutional rights.
c) Reasonable Suspicion and For-Case Tests
It is also possible to test employees especially if they have been displaying signs that they might not be fit for their jobs. This is known as for-case testing. On the other hand, you can test employees who have behaved unsafely on a regular basis in the workplace. This is referred to as reasonable suspicion testing.
d) Post-Accident and Post-Treatment Tests
You can also test employees after they were involved in unsafe practices and workplace accidents or who just came back to work after having attended an addiction treatment and rehabilitation program. This type of drug/alcohol testing is designed to ensure that the employees are drug and alcohol free.
